It begins....

We all made our way to Chris’ house in the village for our departure and the weather Gods were clearly smiling on us, it was a beautiful afternoon. After the compulsory photo call we were off and within 15 yards of Chris’ front gate my chain came off, within the next mile Chris’s also had chain problems and Jeremy’s gears stopped working, an inauspicious start.

We followed the advice and ‘pings’ of the Garmin Sat Nav into the Hampshire countryside. It guided us south faultlessly even when we passed signs that said “Do Not Follow Sat Nav”. Avoiding Offham which was something of a first for us, we got down to Portsmouth in plenty of time for a good plate of Pasta at Strada on Gunwharf key before making our way to the Ferry. It's a slightly odd feeling cycling over the gangway and into the dark recesses of a car ferry, anyway bikes were all chained up below and we wandered up to the bar for a couple of glasses of finest carbohydrate before bed.

The Cabins were small and perfectly adequate; we were all in bed before 11:30. Thankfully Graham’s snoring seems to have improved considerably since our last trip but Chris’s deodorant should be made illegal in such small spaces, tomorrow France!
